Contour Line Still Life ​

Students first took a look at the contour line artwork of various artists throughout history. Then art students were instructed to draw a simple form still life and add contour lines to the forms.

Students first took a look at how perspective was developed and used throughout history. Then art students were instructed to create a cityscape using 2-point perspective.

After watching the BBC's A History of Art in Three Colors: Blue students were instructed to create an original artwork using only tints, tones, and shades of blue.

​
Students used a common paper cutting technique and concept used in Japanese culture called the Notan to create high contrast in this project.

Recycled Robot
​
Students used recycled materials to create a robot for a project themed around Earth Day. We also discussed an artists power as a spokesperson or activist for a cause.

Dias de los Muertos Mosaic ​

This a paper mosaic created for the cultural unit on the Mexican holiday Dias de los Muertos (Days of the Dead).

Zentangle Pattern
​
This is a "quilt" of work from nine students. Students used their knowledge of line and shape to create implied textures and patterns in the Zentangle style format. Individual works were displayed in groups of nine to mimic fabric designs and quilts.

​
At the very end of our Art History unit, students were asked to create a an artwork that represented one image through four different art styles or time periods. Students were encourage to consider the media of the style or time period when creating.

Watercolor Resist
​
This project was a dual lesson project. Students created their designs after notes and discussion about line and shape. Students were required to use watercolor as their media. Since this was the first time to use this media in class, it was important that the media be used correctly and to benefit their designs.
